Tony Group Autoplex Awards Hole-In-One Winner

Tony Group Autoplex awards brand new truck to Hole-In-One winner at Charity Golf Tournament held at Kapolei Golf Course.

WAIPIO, HAWAII ? When a Honolulu resident was invited by his father-in-law to play golf, he never expected it to be a round that would change his life. On July 27, 2011, Solomon Shelton joined his father-in-law Eddie Chung to play in the Ace Auto Glass 12th Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Hawaii Children's Cancer Foundation.  As they approached the 8th hole par 3, Solomon Shelton caught a glimpse of the brand new 2011 Nissan Frontier SE King Cab hole-in-one prize sponsored by the Tony Group Autoplex.  He pulled out his 6-iron, made the swing of his life, and watched in awe as the ball landed on the green and rolled straight into the cup.

"I really want to thank my father-in-law Eddie Chung for inviting me to play in this tournament," said Solomon Shelton.  "I'll remember that shot for the rest of my life."

 New Electric Vehicles Arrive

Oahu Owners Talk About Benefits of Nissan Leaf

POSTED: 10:25 pm HST March 9, 2011

More electric vehicles may soon be spotted on Oahu roads, as another shipment of cars has arrived at Tony Nissan. That drew quite a crowd in Waipahu on Wednesday evening, as owners got their long awaited Leafs. Many in the audience were not just interested spectators, but owners waiting for their cars to come in. For some, this was the first time they had seen first-hand the vehicle they ordered nearly a year ago. For others, this purchase was a chance to make a statement about Hawaii's future. "It's an opportunity to show the next generation how we're living, or how we need to live to survive," said new Leaf owner K. Mark Takai. Prospective buyers were able to check out Takai's zero-emission car, but he isn't the first to go electric in the islands. Bill Markevitch got his Leaf a month and a half ago. During that time gas prices have soared, which made him think a lot about his electric car. "I can't help but think about it. Whenever I pass the gas pump, I smile inside," said Markevitch. His Leaf already has more than 700 miles on it. Instead of charging it up every night, he said, he will fill it up with electricity every other day. The car is very quiet when it is running and, according to Markevitch, it doesn't attract a lot of attention. It looks like many other cars on the road, and has all the comforts of gas-powered ones without the maintenance costs or tailpipe emissions. "It seems to have so many things going for it. I haven't been disappointed yet," said Markevitch. There are more shipments of Leaf cars expected over the next few weeks. Along with the new vehicles, all owners are required to get electric-car chargers for their homes. But they can get separate meters, so charging can take place overnight at reduced rates.

NISSAN OPENS LEAF RESERVATIONS TO GENERAL PUBLIC

Nissan North America, Inc. (NNA) is opening reservations for the Nissan LEAF zero-emission, all-electric vehicle on May 15 to the general public. The reservation process is a first step in securing a place on the list to purchase or lease a Nissan LEAF.

Nissan offered priority reservations beginning April 20 to select customers who had registered for ongoing communications on the Nissan LEAF via NissanUSA.com. More than 9,500 consumers placed a reservation during this priority window.

The Nissan LEAF begins rolling out to select markets in December, with increased availability beginning in spring 2011, and full market rollout in 2012. Consumers who have made reservations will be sequenced in order for their particular market.

"After the start of priority reservations, interest in the Nissan LEAF only has continued to grow," said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, sales & marketing, NNA. "Consumers clearly are recognizing the benefits of zero emissions and the value proposition the Nissan LEAF offers."

RESERVATIONS

?Through the Nissan LEAF website via NissanUSA.com, the customer will create an account, configure his or her vehicle, and answer questions to complete a driving profile.
?Consumers will be asked to pay a fully refundable $99 reservation fee by credit card.
?After placing a reservation, a customer will be able to indicate a preferred dealer.
?Consumers who reserve a Nissan LEAF will receive confirmation numbers. Nissan will provide individual updates for their reservations by June 30.
?Reservations are limited to one per household.
?Consumer inquiries about the reservation process can be answered at the Nissan LEAF call center, 1-877-664-2738.

Including the maximum $7,500 federal tax credit for which the Nissan LEAF will be fully eligible, the consumer's after-tax net value of the vehicle could be as low as $25,280. The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price *(MSRP) for the 2011 all-electric, zero-emission Nissan LEAF is $32,780. Additionally, there is an array of state and local incentives that may further defray the costs, and increase the benefits, for owning and charging a Nissan LEAF. For example, a $5,000 clean-vehicle rebate is offered in California; a $5,000 tax credit in Georgia; a $1,500 tax credit in Oregon; and carpool-lane access in some states, including California. The lease price for the Nissan LEAF begins at $349 per month.
