Your Nissan factory warranty only lasts for five years or up to 60,000 miles, so it might be a good idea to ask your Nissan dealer about buying an extended warranty

Four Things to Know About Nissan’s Extended Warranty

1. You Have Three Coverage Options

Extended protection plans from Nissan last for eight years or up to 120,000 miles. You can purchase these plans while your factory warranty is still active. Your coverage options are:

Gold Preferred

The Gold Preferred plan covers almost every component of your vehicle with bumper-to-bumper coverage. The only exclusions for this plan include wear and tear items, such as brake pads and batteries, physical damage, and cosmetic flaws.

Silver Preferred

The Silver Preferred Plan covers all parts included in the Powertrain Preferred plan, along with 680 more vehicle components. This protection plan covers specific parts such as the anti-lock braking system, transmission oil cooler, and mobile entertainment systems.

Powertrain Preferred

The Powertrain Preferred plan adds to the coverage provided by the Nissan factory powertrain warranty. This plan will cover all internal engine components, most transmission components, the drivetrain, suspension, electrical motors, the fuel system, steering system, brakes, and even Nissan air conditioning.

2. Your Warranty Comes With Perks

If you purchase the Gold Preferred or Silver Preferred plan, the extended protection plan comes with several perks backed by Nissan, such as rental car reimbursement, towing reimbursement, trip interruption benefits, and 24-hour emergency roadside assistance. The Powertrain Preferred plan only comes with roadside assistance benefits.

3. You Can Choose Your Deductible

When you purchase your vehicle service contract from your dealership, you can choose a deductible that is affordable for your budget. Deductibles for your plan are either $0 or $100 per repair visit.

4. You Can Purchase Other Plans at Your Nissan Dealer

In addition to a vehicle protection plan, there are other Nissan protection plans you can consider. For example, you can buy GAP protection or guaranteed asset protection from your local dealership. A GAP plan is great coverage to have since this plan can protect you from the remaining balance on your vehicle if your car is totaled, and can even protect you from vehicle depreciation in case you want to sell your car in the future.

Prepaid Maintenance

You can purchase a prepaid maintenance plan to lock in the cost of routine repairs. Your prepaid maintenance plan can be customized to suit your lifestyle and may even have a 0% Consumer Payment Plan for up to 24 months.

Tire and Wheel Protection

Your factory warranty and your extended protection plan will not cover the cost of tire and wheel maintenance, so purchasing Tire and Wheel Protection might be ideal. This plan covers the cost of flat tire repair or replacement, wheel repair or replacement, mounting, and may even cover cosmetic repairs.

An extended vehicle protection plan can protect you from repair costs for important vehicle components, such as the powertrain. Contact the finance department at Tony Nissan in Waipahu, HI to learn more about purchasing a Nissan extended protection plan today.
